:: Reminiscing times... ::

The rain went pitter-patter outside, and it reminded me of the good old days in Jordan.
Aaah yes! The dating days. *smiles dreamily*

We've been craving for arab food these past few weeks.
Maqali.
Hummus bil lahm.
Shawarma.
Mansaf.
Kibseh.
Maqluba.

A couple of weeks ago, we ate this.

Lebanese bread spread with hummus, and stuffed with fried potatoes,
eggplants & cauliflower. A.K.A : MAQALI.
This used to be our favorite, bought on a small restaurant
at the bus station in Mafraq, each time before we board the
bus back to Irbed where we stayed.

That left us wanting for more and led us to this last wednesday.

I tried cooking this before, but it didn't taste the same like the one we had in Jordan.
I think it was because I didn't add in any BAHARAT (arab spices) as I couldn't find it here.
Didn't blog about it of course back then, because I didn't even have a blog :D

This time, I included the BAHARAT into the recipe.
I googled the Baharat recipe here, went to Jusco, grabbed all the spices needed, proceeded to the counter (where the cashier shot a very funny look at me & the amount of spices that I bought), went back home & started making my own bottle of BAHARAT.

I tell you, it was worth it.

The aroma, the taste..it was exactly the same.
Zali & I had our dinner quite late that night because he had to stay back in the office until 9+.
So, when he reached home, Hawra was already sound asleep.
We had our dinner with the rain pouring heavily outside.
It was perfect.
The atmosphere, the food, US..it was Jordan all over again.

It was Jordan enough for us, suffice to say.

Wahlaaauuu so romantic! (don't puke hor! :p)
